High school is often followed by college, and some people find themselves enjoying adulthood and liking college better than high school. I will give things that are worse and things that are better (I never thought I would like college better than high school, but here I am):
- Less structure. In high school, you can be in big trouble for missing classes because you're a minor and the school can be in big trouble if something happens to you. In college, professors may (and do, more times than not, in my experience,) lower your grade for skipping classes or work, but there is no detention or anything for missing class. However, a semester in college is a year's worth of high school material, so you will have to do A LOT of reading and project work outside of class.
- More convince. There is a chance that you can have a job, such as a restaurant employee, on campus at college and you can live on-campus so you may not have commuting time. Don't have a job on campus, but have some transportation? Then you might be closer to your job than in high school. (My town has a population of only a few hundred people and there really aren't any jobs for high schoolers. The nearest city that has jobs for high schoolers is 20 miles away.) There is also a library which has more resources than high school libraries (and often more than regular libraries. Some schools have more than one library.)
- More flexibility. These points are similar, but while high school (and usually middle school) students have options on what classes they take (to an extent) and have some control over the order of their classes, colleges have far more options in classes, usually more professors to teach those classes (meaning if you already know you do or don't like a professor, you can get around it), and more times offered to take those classes. You can choose to have your classes over by 2 pm or just take evening classes. At my college, most classes are scheduled between Monday and Thursday, so no school Friday (and on weekends like Labor day weekend, you get 4 days off!)
Let me know if you have more!
